In 1856, Sir Cavasji Jehangirji laid the foundation of C. J. N. Z. Madresa School Trust and under the guidance of this trust, Sorabji Barjorji Garda College trust was established in 1945. Shri Burjorji Pestonji Baria took the initiative to start the Science faculty in 1946, under the banner of S. B. Garda College. Later in the year 1965, the Science College was separated and was named B. P. Baria Science Institute. B. P. Baria Science Institute is affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (formarly known as South Gujarat University) Surat. B. P. Baria Science Institute has a very humble goal to provide proper atmosphere and the necessary infrastructure for the educational, mental, physical, social and spiritual upliftment and allround development of students to enable them to march ahead on the path of individual and national progress. The college aims at making them good citizens, who would contribute to preserve and enhance the respect of the family, society, nation and all human values. The Emblem of the college is suggestive of its goal. The word "Excelsior" in it suggest the achievement of more and more good. The symbol on its left signifies proficiency, brilliance and excellence, while the symbol on its right signifies the awareness and exploration of the smallest to the largest mysteries of this world. Zoology and Mathematics are taught as special (main) subjects
in the College.
